In 1986 I earned a BFA in photography and went on to work as a photo editor in NYC. I am, however, self-taught in oil painting and have been painting now for 12 years. When we moved to Bucks County, I was so moved by the Pennsylvania Impressionists that I had to give painting a go myself. My medium of choice is oil, and my tools are the palette knife and big brushes. My subjects often include landscapes, farms, and still, life and are most often inspired by the colors and textures of my subjects. When I approach the creation of a new work, I am guided by an inner visceral response to the lyrical quality unfolding within the work and seek a more organic aesthetic to convey this in the finished piece.
My work has garnished international awards, including Artist of the Year Finalist for the Circle Foundation for the Arts, 1st & 3rd place in the American Art Awards, the Artist’s Magazine Juried Competitions, Gallery Ring Competitions, publication in the Illuminate edition of Apero, as well as inclusion in film, notable invitational and solo exhibitions and galleries.
